Three races held on Day 1 of the 6th Youth Centenary Regatta-Trofeo Faccenda
Riva del Garda – Arriving on the race course a little late, as announced in the morning, the Ora that blew this afternoon allowed the completion of the Day 1 program of the Youth Centenary Regatta-Trofeo Faccenda. The sixth edition, featuring nearly three hundred young athletes, began in grand style at Fraglia Vela Riva. Credit for this achievement goes to the Race Officials, well-coordinated by PRO Andrea Gatta—with international umpire Luigi Bertini, widely considered one of the most knowledgeable about the Regatta Rules, serving as Jury President—and the organizing club’s on-the-water team, led by Fausto Maroni.
A useful event in preparation for the Garda Optimist Meeting, the 44th edition of which is scheduled for Easter week, the Youth Centenary Regatta-Trofeo Faccenda has always boasted impressive numbers and was chosen this year as the official selection for the World and European Championship teams by the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Hungary.
Returning to the results of this first day of 2026 racing, Andrea Demurtas (FVR) and last year’s Garda Optimist Meeting winner, Jesper Karlsen (CVA), shone among the Juniors: the two young talents took advantage of today’s three races to take the lead in the standings, with Demurtas (1-3-1) one point ahead of his opponent. Matteo Adducci (LNI Mandello del Lario) follows in third, followed by two points behind the best of the women, Irene Faini (CNB), and Matteo Faraoni (LNI Ostia), slightly further back in fifth.
Among the Cadets, present in fewer numbers than the Juniors, the first day was dominated by Valerio Pucci (2-1-1), who, with his four points, finished ahead of Poland’s Pavel Frydrychowicz, two points behind, and Switzerland’s Carlo Milan, significantly further behind. The best girl is Switzerland’s Lea Salikova, currently sixth, just ahead of Giulia Zanoni.
The sixth edition of the Youth Centenary Regatta-Trofeo Faccenda will resume tomorrow early afternoon with further fleet racing that should determine the Gold, Silver, and Bronze fleets, which, on the final day, will play out the decisive races.
