The opening of the III Italia Cup ILCA is a great show
Riva del Garda – Opening in grand style for the III Italia Cup ILCA, an event that brings together in Riva del Garda almost three hundred specialists of the ILCA, one of the most popular dinghies in the world, which in versions 6 and 7 boasts the rank of Olympic Class.
Organized by Fraglia Vela Riva, in collaboration with the ILCA Italia Association, the event began this afternoon under the orders of the President of the Regatta Committee Giovanni Colucci. Taking advantage of an intermittent Ora, and counting on the experience of Fausto Maroni, the Race Officers managed to ensure that three races were held for all groups: ILCA 7, ILCA 6, which race in two fleets, as well as the ILCA 4.
Among the ILCA 7s, Anatol Sassi (C.C. Aniene) got off to a good start, with a total of 17 points, six ahead of the expert Frederik Westman and twelve ahead of Enrico Tanferna (Y.C. Olbia), followed by Paolo Freddi (C.V. Portocivitanova) and Lorenzo Micheli (F.V. Riva).
Among the ILCA 6s, it was a day to remember for Fraglia Vela Riva: Alessandro Cirinei, recent winner of the bronze at the Youth European Championship, immediately jumped into the lead together with Federico Bonalana; the two ‘fragliotti’ are followed by four points by the pair composed of Manuel Henk Vos (F.V. Malcesine) and Martino Colombo (A.V. Alto Verbano). The best in the women’s field was Matilda Zoy Talluri (C.N. Livorno), fifth overall.
Among the ILCA 4, as usual very numerous, Alberto Avanzini (F.V. Malcesine) confirmed himself as a top-level athlete by winning all the races of his fleet and with 3 points he precedes Zala Sterni (Sirena Klub Triestino) by six and Giulia Marella (Compagnia della Vela Venezia) by twelve, third overall and first of the girls.
Tomorrow we return to the water starting at 12, hoping for similar conditions to today.
