Full day for the 43rd Garda Optimist Meeting: Jesper Karlsen and Lucas Christiansen lead the way
Riva del Garda – Ideal weather conditions allowed the completion of three races for all the heats engaged between the buoys of the 43rd Garda Optimist Meeting, a top event of the Fraglia Vela Riva that this year brought together just over eight hundred sailors representing forty-three nations.
Having entered already in the late morning, the Ora blew decisively for a good part of the afternoon, allowing the most competitive helmsmen to emerge from the group. Among the Cadets, the one in command is the Puerto Rican Luca Christiansen who, with his five points, precedes the leader of the first hour James Bentley by three points and the pair composed of Viola Vittoria Covi, best of the girls, and Killian Breda by five.
A great battle is announced among the Juniors where, after five races, ten athletes are gathered in eleven points with the first four all representing Italy. Jesper Karlsen confirmed his lead with four firsts, and has a two-point margin over Leandro Scialpi and Artur Brighenti. Andrea Demurtas is fourth, while the Swedish Isak Kaplan is fifth. The best of the girls is the Danish Freja Vintergaard, eleventh overall.
After today’s races, the appointment for all the protagonists of the 43rd Garda Optimist Meeting moved to the PalaVela, where the prize draw for the partners of Fraglia Vela Riva took place. In the presence of over a thousand people, the boat offered by BlueBlue Boat was randomly assigned: luck kissed Finja Zulsdorff (GER-1918).
The 43rd Garda Optimist Meeting will resume tomorrow starting at 1 pm with the last trials valid for the definition of the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Emerald classes, with which the decisive races will be held on Sunday.
