Fraglia Vela Riva is ready for the 2° Regata Nazionale 29er
Riva del Garda – With the 44th Garda Meeting behind us and Chiara Carloni’s election as president celebrated, Fraglia Vela Riva is ready to host the 2nd National 29er Regatta. Organized with the support of the Italian Nacra-9er Association, the event arrives in the Alto Benaco region five weeks after the first leg, held in Quartu Sant’Elena, which concluded with the victory of Emilia Salvatori/Pietro Rizzi (SCG Salò), with Bianca Marchesini/Lucia Finato (FV Malcesine/FV Riva) and Giulio Mattanini/Francesco Naccari Carlizzi (FV Riva) completing the podium.
More than fifty specialist crews in this acrobatic youth doubles event, preparatory to the transition to Olympic-level dinghies, have gathered at the Riva clubhouse awaiting the first preparatory signal, scheduled for 1:00 PM on Friday. Among these are all, or almost all, of the pairs that dictate the national hierarchy and the members of the Fraglia Vela Riva 29er Racing Team, led by expert coach Luigi Rago. Looking beyond the borders, there is a significant presence of foreign sailors, with crews arriving from Estonia, Germany, Hungary, and Slovenia.
A maximum of twelve races are scheduled, with two discards to be counted after the completion of the fourth and ninth races. Nine Race Officials are responsible for managing them, divided between the Committee, chaired by Claudio Maza, and the Jury, led by Elisa D’Ippolito.
“After the Youth Centenary Regatta and Meeting, Fraglia Vela Riva continues its youth sailing season with the 29er class. Given the highly dynamic nature of this selective, large-group dinghy, and the typical weather conditions of our regatta course, we expect competitive and fun races. Once ashore, I’m sure our clubhouse will be the ideal environment for the kids to bond and experience the high level of sociality of the class,” commented Fraglia Vela Riva President Chiara Carloni.
