With seven races qualifications for the 29er Euro Cup – The Finals are over
Riva del Garda – Completing seven races in two days, the Race Committee of the 29er EuroCup 2025 – The Finals has officially completed qualifying, the first phase of this highly-attended event organized by Fraglia Vela Riva in collaboration with the 29er International Class Association. Starting tomorrow, weather permitting, the 150 crews representing 19 nations will take to the buoys, divided into Gold, Silver, and Bronze fleets, to begin the first final races.
Today, which began at 9:00 a.m. under the gusts of the Peler wind to allow some of the entrants to catch up on the fourth race, which some had already sailed yesterday afternoon, three more races were completed, which, added to yesterday’s, made the first phase a solid success.
Standing out, as they did yesterday, are Frenchmen Alexandre Mostini and Raphael Allain, who command the top spot with a total of eight points and five wins today. Swiss athletes Ikke Huber and Liam Berger, who finished third at the European Championships last July, climbed one spot to second. Following them, five points off the top spot, are their compatriots Jacob Ryiu Brundler and Thierry Stucki, who were second until yesterday. In fourth place is the crew of Poles Szymon Kolka and Batosz Zmudinski, the third strongest in the EuroCup standings and tenth at both the European and World Championships. British athletes Jac Bailey and Ben Sinfield round out the top five, while the best Italians are Giuseppe Montesano and Enrico Coslovich (C.V. Muggia), currently sixth ahead of Czechs Karolina Lajkova and Peter Pelnar, the top performers among the mixed crews. Bianca Marchesini and Lucia Finato (F.V. Malcesine and F.V. Riva) are holding onto the lead in the women’s group, confirming their place in the overall top ten.
The comeback by French athletes Nolann Huet Des Aunay and Titouan Gresset is noteworthy: the 29er EuroCup ranking leaders have entered the leading group and are now in ninth place, just in time to fend off the return of the world champions and second-place finishers Niklas Holt and Philip Forslund, who climbed from nineteenth to twelfth place.
As mentioned, the 2025 29er EuroCup – The Finals will resume tomorrow morning with the first final races: the Race Committee, coordinated by Adolfo Villani, has set the first starting signal for 9:00 a.m.
Fraglia Vela Riva’s 2025 Racing Season is supported by Suzuki, SLAM, Negrinautica, ITAS Assicurazioni, Rothoblass, and Garda Trentino.
