At Fraglia Vela Riva it’s time for the 8th Autumn Meeting – Suzuky Trophy – Ezio Torboli
Riva del Garda – No sooner have the remaining RS Feva European Championships been cleared away than the club is already turning its attention to the next important event.
The eighth edition of the Autumn Meeting – Suzuki Trophy – Ezio Torboli, a classic end-of-season event for young Optimist class helmsmen, is scheduled for Friday and Sunday.
This year, the “Torboli,” as it is commonly known, benefits from the valuable support of a key partner: Suzuki. The partnership signed two years ago with Fraglia Vela Riva has been renewed, with the club choosing Suzuki as its official supplier for its fleet of motors. All the club’s inflatable boats, used in regatta support activities and in the sailing school’s educational programs, are equipped with Suzuki outboards.
Suzuki Italia is the Italian subsidiary of the Japanese manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corporation, a leading automotive, motorcycle, and outboard motor company that sets a benchmark for innovative, sustainable, and high-performance mobility. Suzuki has always embraced the values of sport, such as commitment, respect for the rules, and a desire for continuous growth, and constantly strives to improve its performance through talent and teamwork.
The Suzuki – Ezio Torboli Trophy is a highly competitive and highly attended competition, with nearly two hundred participants. The program includes a maximum of nine races, including qualifying and finals, for both the Junior and Cadet categories, with a discard applicable at the end of the fourth completed race. In addition to the winners of the individual rankings, the regulations stipulate that the Suzuki – Ezio Torboli Trophy will be awarded to the club that, by adding the results of the two best Juniors and the two best Cadets, achieves the lowest overall score.
Naming the Trophy after Suzuki represents recognition of the synergy between the brand and the club, based on shared values such as commitment, sustainability, and the development of young talent. The initiative represents a concrete opportunity to support sailing and promote technical excellence, including in the nautical field.
“Having bid farewell to the young people of RS Feva with that touch of melancholy typical of any end-of-event, we are ready to welcome the Optimist specialists for the eighth edition of the Suzuki – Ezio Torboli Trophy, an event that grows in popularity year after year and draws significant numbers. I am pleased that a prestigious partner like Suzuki shares our vision and has decided to make the regatta unique by supporting it. This decision was made almost as if to seal the renewal of our collaboration, which, I am sure, will continue to bring visibility and satisfaction to all involved,” commented Andrea Camin, President of Fraglia Vela Riva.
“We are proud to renew our partnership with Fraglia Vela Riva and to associate our name with an event of great tradition and sporting value like the Ezio Torboli Trophy.” Paolo Ilariuzzi, Director of the Motorcycle and Marine Division at Suzuki Italia Spa, stated, “Sailing perfectly embodies the values Suzuki stands for: passion, commitment, respect for the environment, and the constant pursuit of maximum performance. For us, supporting a club so active in promoting sports among young people means investing in the future and helping to spread a culture of sustainable mobility and sport.”
The 2025 Racing Season of Fraglia Vela Riva is supported by Suzuki, SLAM, Negrinautica, ITAS Assicurazioni, Rothoblass, and Garda Trentino.
