After six races, III ILCA Italia Cup is on fire
Riva del Garda – The III ILCA Italia Cup continues in Riva del Garda: also during the second day the presence of a solid Ora and the combination of the organizational machine of Fraglia Vela Riva and the Race Officials allowed three more races to be held.
With a total of six results, and the counting of the discard, the rankings, even net of the many protests generated by the high number of races disputed – fifteen if we consider all the fleets – are starting to define the hierarchies of an event that brings together almost three hundred specialists of this very widespread Olympic Class.
Among the ILCA 7, three firsts and the entry of the discard have promoted an inspired Enrico Tanferna (Y.C. Olbia) to the top; he is followed by the leader of the first hour, Anatol Sassi (C.C. Aniene), eight points behind, and Paolo Freddi (C.V. Portocivitanova), who entered the podium zone with a margin of six lengths over Luca Valentino (C.V. Ravennate). The fifth, and first Master, Frederik Westman, is further behind.
Among the ILCA 6, today’s races have generated a very balanced situation: the lead of the classic, at 11 points, is in fact divided between Alessandro Cirinei (F.V. Riva), today winner of two races, Lorenzo Ghirotti (F.V. Riva), who got rid of the twenty-fourth place he got in the first race, and Manuel Henk Vos (F.V. Malcesine), solid in gaining three seconds. The leaders boast a minimal margin over Mattia Di Lorenzo (F.V. Riva) and Nicolò Giuseppe Cassitta (Y.C. Olbia), who are considered to be in full battle for the overall victory. The best in the women’s field is Maria Vittoria Arseni, eighth overall with a five-point advantage over Matilda Zoy Talluri (C.N. Livorno), currently ninth.
Among the numerous ILCA 4s, Alberto Avanzini (F.V. Malcesine) continues his solo run, totaling five points after six trials and discarding a disqualification for early start. Zala Sterni (Sirena Klub Triestino) holds on to second place, followed by Giulia Marella (Compagnia della Vela Venezia) at four points, third overall and first of the girls.
All this, as anticipated, net of the protests that are under discussion and which involve the Protest Committee led by Anna Cuccia.
Tomorrow we return to the water for the final races, followed by the awards ceremony on the multipurpose terrace of the Fraglia Vela Riva.
