A new leader emerges at the eve of the final day of the 2025 29er EuroCup – The Finals
Riva del Garda – Fraglia Vela Riva’s organizational machinery continues to perform: today, the third day of the 2025 29er EuroCup – The Finals, the first day reserved for the decisive races of the Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Emerald fleets, three races were completed (the Emerald fleet completed two), for a total of ten in three days. This tally deserves credit for favorable weather conditions, the usual generous Ora and Peler winds, and the ability of the Race Committee and Fraglia Vela Riva Technical Manager Fausto Maroni to act with real speed.
Thanks to today’s results, the ranking, comprising nearly 150 crews, is beginning to consolidate, with a change at the top. Swiss athletes Ikke Huber and Liam Berger, bronze medalists at the European Championships in Rive del Garda last July, are the new leaders: their consistent placings have rewarded them, giving them a five-point advantage over their rivals. French athletes Alexandre Mostini and Raphael Allain are holding on for second place, but winning the second race of the day wasn’t enough to maintain their early lead. Giuseppe Montesano and Enrico Coslovich (C.V. Muggia) storm onto the third step of the podium, taking advantage of today’s two-thirds and fifteenth place to move up from sixth to third place, confirming their position as the leading Italian pair.
Turning to the overall standings of the 2025 29er EuroCup, of which The Finals is the final event, it’s worth noting the turnaround by world champions Niklas Holt and Philip Forslund: starting from nineteenth place, they’re now fourth, after spending the night of Day 2 in twelfth place overall. The Norwegian pair, second in the season rankings, is one place and four points ahead of the 29er EuroCup leaders, Frenchmen Nolann Huet Des Aunay and Titouan Gresset, in the Riva series. We’ll therefore have to wait until the final race to find out who will win this coveted title.
As for the top performers among the women’s and mixed crews, heading into the final day, Bianca Marchesine and Lucia Finato (F.V. Malcesine and F.V. Riva) lead the way, sitting thirteenth overall in the overall standings, along with Emilia Salvatore and Pietro Rizzi (S.C.G. Salò), currently tenth overall. Among the mixed crews, the slip of Czechs Karolina Lajkova and Peter Pelnar is noteworthy: leading the mixed rankings until last night, they dropped from seventh to thirty-first overall at the end of a day to forget.
The 2025 29er EuroCup – The Finals will conclude tomorrow: hoping for favorable weather conditions, the Race Committee expects to complete the event with four more valid races, which is why it has scheduled the preparatory race for 9:00 a.m. Once the racing is complete, the event will conclude with the awards ceremony, scheduled to take place at the Fraglia Vela Riva headquarters.
The 2025 Racing Season of Fraglia Vela Riva is supported by Suzuki, SLAM, Negrinautica, ITAS Assicurazioni, Rothoblass, and Garda Trentino.
