42nd Lake Garda Opti Meeting: thousands of young sailors are invading Riva del Garda

Riva del Garda – There is an air of eve at the Fraglia Vela Riva headquarters which, as always happens in Easter week, is preparing to become a meeting point for the specialists of the Optimist class, recalled to Riva land by the imminent start of the 42nd Garda Optimist Meeting, the only regatta to have earned inclusion in the Guinness World Record for the highest number of single-class entries and to have earned the club led by Andrea Camin the World Sailing President Development Award.

Thanks to its over 1100 attendees, combined with those of companions and professionals, the 42nd Garda Optimist Meeting will celebrate the transition between winter and spring, overwhelming Riva del Garda with its tradition of competitive spirit, youth, colors and fun.

Scheduled between Wednesday 27th and Sunday 31st March, the 42nd Garda Optimist Meeting will open on Wednesday itself with the dispute of the Country Cup, open to one representative from each of the thirty-eight registered nations, followed by the opening ceremony, one of the most eagerly awaited events for part of the young people registered, who will have the opportunity to parade through the streets of Riva del Garda in a whirlwind of music and flags, until they reach the Piazza del Comune where the event will be declared officially open.

The qualifying trials will therefore take place between Thursday and Saturday, which will be replaced on Sunday by the regattas valid for the Gold fleets, from which the winners of the event, Silver, Bronze and Emerald, will emerge.

The event will, as always, be supported by the use of the PalaVela, a real pre- and post-regatta meeting point for all participants and theater of the various social events planned during the course of the work, including the long-awaited lottery, and by the presence of a village regattas set up in the spaces belonging to the Fraglia Vela Riva. In this area there will be space for the stands of the various partners of the event and among these there will be Slam, recently announced as the technical partner of Fraglia Vela Riva, Negri Nautica and the Cantiere Navale Faccenda.

On the occasion of this 42nd edition, entrusted to the experience of the PRO Giancarlo Crevatin and the President of the Jury Luca Babini, there will also be the return of Kinder, for years one of the most appreciated partners by the young participants, absolutely eager to return to animate the inflatable structures and engage in the side activities proposed by the company’s animators who have made their ‘Joy of Moving’ a successful reality.

As tradition dictates, the 42nd Garda Optimist Meeting will come to an end on Easter Sunday, when the winners will be celebrated during a dynamic and well-attended awards ceremony.
