2026 EurILCA Europa Cup, More Than 640 Sailors at Fraglia Vela Riva for the Highlight Event of the Season

Riva del Garda, June 13, 2026 – Fraglia Vela Riva is gearing up for an organizational effort comparable to that required for the Optimist Meeting del Garda as it prepares to host the sixth event of the 2026 EurILCA Europa Cup from tomorrow through Wednesday.

Dedicated to one of the most competitive Olympic sailing classes, the circuit has attracted more than 640 sailors from 38 nations to Riva del Garda, all set to compete in an event of exceptional sporting value, particularly from a youth development perspective.

The entry list, featuring several high-profile names, includes all the leading Under 15 and Under 19 sailors, for whom the Garda event represents an important opportunity for growth and the chance to push their limits further.

Fresh from an outstanding trip to Croatia, where three of its sailors finished among the top four in the Youth ILCA 6 fleet, the Fraglia Vela Riva ILCA Racing Team will also be on the starting line. Leading the squad is the club’s Technical Director, Mauro Berteotti, who commented:

“Four days of intense and highly competitive racing lie ahead. Our challenge will be to confirm the level of performance we showed in Croatia. It won’t be easy, both because of the quality of the opposition and because racing at home often brings additional pressure, making everything seem more complicated. The regatta gains further significance as it is considered an evaluation event by the Italian Sailing Federation, which has sent several coaches to observe the sailors. This inevitably adds extra pressure on the team. That said, the feeling within the group is positive and every member is fully focused on achieving their own objectives.”

“We are on the eve of one of the most anticipated events of our racing calendar and the organizational machine, which is a source of pride for our club, is operating at full capacity. ILCA racing guarantees close competition, a very high technical standard and impressive entry numbers. The magic is happening once again because welcoming 642 sailors representing 38 nations is something truly remarkable,” said Chiara Carloni, President of Fraglia Vela Riva.

Organized in partnership with EurILCA, the event will conclude on Wednesday and will feature two days of qualifying races followed by two days of finals. Open to the ILCA 4, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 classes, the regatta will be conducted on two race courses laid by the on-water team led by Fraglia Vela Riva Technical Consultant Fausto Maroni and managed by Race Officials Giuliano Tosi and Marcello Montis. The event will be coordinated by Principal Race Officer Zlatko Iakalic and First Assistant Javier Blanco. The ten-member International Jury will be chaired by the experienced Uros Zvan.
