2025 29er EuroCup – The Finals are underway in Riva del Garda
Riva del Garda – The 2025 29er EuroCup – The Finals began late this morning, an event organized as part of a long-standing tradition by Fraglia Vela Riva in collaboration with the 29er International Class Association, which has chosen the Alto Benaco region to close out its highly popular circuit for several seasons. Over the course of ten races, the 29er EuroCup attracted nearly three hundred crews, demonstrating the widespread popularity of this acrobatic youth doubles event, a prerequisite for a move to any other class. Regarding 2025, it’s worth noting that the 29er return comes just months after the highly competitive European Championship, won by the German brothers Lucas and Moritz Hamm.
For the opening of The Finals, featuring a staggering 150 crews from 19 nations, Lake Garda offered a late but cool Ora, allowing the Race Committee, led by Adolfo Villani, to complete four races on one course and three on the other. It was a productive day, at the end of which a ranking was drawn up that, pending a tie between the fleets, takes into account the three races valid for all.
Leading the provisional standings, with three first-place finishes, are Frenchmen Alexandre Mostini and Raphael Allain, who dominated all the races of the Yellow fleet. They are ahead of Swiss sailors Jacob Ryiu Brundler and Thierry Stucki, who also finished second in the same group. In third place, with eight points, are Swiss sailors Ikke Huber and Liam Berger, who already finished third at the European Championships last July. In fourth place is the third-place crew in the EuroCup standings, composed of Poles Szymon Kolka and Batosz Zmudinski, who finished tenth in both the European and World Championships held in Porto in August and won by Norwegians Niklas Holt and Philip Forlsund, who today appeared slightly behind their direct rivals. Rounding out the top five are Switzerland’s Ella Durr and Eskil Kaufmann, currently the best female pairing, while among the Italian crews, the best were Bianca Marchesini and Lucia Finato (F.V. Malcesine and F.V. Riva), eleventh overall and fourth among the women.
Tomorrow, with the aim of leveling the fleets, the groups that must complete the fourth race will be called to the starting line at 9:00 a.m., while the others will be called at 11:00 a.m.
Please note that the 2025 29er EuroCup – The Finals will conclude on Tuesday afternoon with the awards ceremony: before then, the qualifying and decisive races for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze fleets must be completed.
The 2025 Racing Season of Fraglia Vela Riva is supported by Suzuki, SLAM, Negrinautica, ITAS Assicurazioni, Rothoblass, and Garda Trentino.
