Dopo la festa di apertura dell'RS Eurocup di lunedì sera e il conseguente difficile risveglio dei
partecipanti per le regate odierne... anche oggi alla Fraglia Vela Riva si è riusciti a fare una bella regata con 20 nodi di vento. In verità all'inizio il vento si è fatto attendere a causa di temporali nella zona che hanno bloccato la classica brezza termica: prima è stato messo il campo di regata con vento da nord, poi causa temporali sulle montagne è arrivato il temuto vento da "Ponale" che spazza via spesso quello che trova, finchè la situazione si è riequilibrata ed è entrato un bel vento da sud a metà pomeriggio. Merito allo staff operativo in acqua della Fraglia vela Riva che si è saputo adeguare ai continui e repentini cambi di direzione del vento: posa-boe e Comitati di regata sono sempre stati al lavoro per garantire lo svolgimento di una regata regolare, senza salti di vento e quindi tecnicamente valida.
La Zhik RS Eurocup 2010, che vede in acqua 250 barche, è organizzata suddividendo le varie classi in due campi di regata posizionati uno sopravento all'altro, sul lato ovest del Garda Trentino.

L'unica prova disputata oggi non ha portato grandi cambiamenti in classifica: nella classe RS 200 il vertice rimane occupato da Gilbert-WIllan che hanno realizzato oggi la terza vittoria consecutiva, allungandosi sugli inseguitori che rimangono appiati a parità di punti. Hivey-Hivey sono secondi con 9 punti come pure Boyce-Toze. Si preannuncia una bella lotta in questa che è la flotta più numerosa con 76 barche iscritte. Abbastanza equilibrata anche l'RS 400 con in testa Downer (1-2-1), seguito da Sims (2-1-3). Al momento non si lascia passare negli RS 600 Steve Birbeck, tre vittorie e sempre identici risultati per i primi tre. Nessun cambiamento nemmeno tra l'RS 700 con Heissig al comando (2-2-1) davanti a Wales (5-1-2). Un po' più animata la classifica negli RS 800 con McGraneA-llen protagonisti di una vittoria di giornata e ora in testa davanti a Deal-Page. Ma mancano ancora tre giornate alla conclusione con i conseguenti scarti da applicare a seconda delle prove disputate e quindi tutto ancora può succedere. L'unica cosa certa è che i partecipanti di questa Zhick RS Eurocup si stanno divertendo qui alla Fraglia Vela Riva!

The RS Eurocup continued today at Fraglia Vela Riva with winds of 20 knots and one race completed.
However, some bad weather in the area had initially held up the classic thermal breeze from the south and, with developing thunderstorms in the mountains, the boats had to be moved to a protected zone as the strong and sometime destructive “Ponale” wind picked up.
By mid afternoon, however, the situation had calmed down and the southerly winds arrived. The staff at Fraglia Vela Riva were, as usual, on top of the situation in coping with the constant wind changes and eventually one race was able to be completed.
The Zhik RS Eurocup 2010 has a total of 250 boats participating divided into various classes with 2 race areas on the western side of Trentino Garda.
There isn’t much change in the leaders: Gilbert - William still hold the lead in the RS 200 Class with a 3rd consecutive win today and increase their lead over Hivey-Hivey and Boyce-Toze each with 9 points.
In the RS 400 Class Downer (1-2-1) is 1st followed by Sims (2-1-3).
Steve Birbek leads in the RS 600 Class with 3 wins. In the RS 700 Heissig still holds the lead (2-2-1) ahead of Wales (5-1-2). In the RS 800 McGrane-Allen are ahead of Deal-Page. With 3 days of competition remaining and the elimination to be applied, anything can happen. One thing is for sure, all the participants at Zhik RS Eurocup 2010 are having a great time here at Fraglia Vela Riva.
