ZHIK RS EUROCUP 2010 - DAY 1
Ottima partenza per l'edizione 2010 della Zhik RS Eurocup, evento organizzato dalla Fraglia Vela Riva, che vede la presenza di 400 regatanti suddivisi nelle categorie RS 200 (la più numerosa con 76 barche), RS 400, RS 600, RS 700 e RS 800 (con 50 barche al via). Due prove disputate così come da programma con un vento da sud che ha soffiato sul Garda Trentino attorno ai 12-14 nodi hanno inaugurato la manifestazione che si concluderà venerdì 30 luglio e che ha una partecipazione quasi esclusivamente inglese. Un connubio tra sport e turismo riuscito nel migliore dei modi dato che le presenze calcolate tra partecipanti, accompagnatori e familiari che hanno scelto di partecipare a questa regata, vissuta soprattutto come vacanza all'insegna della vela e del divertimento, si aggirano sulle 1500 al giorno.
Dal punto di vista agonistico nella affollata classe RS 200 (doppio) sono partiti alla grande Roger Gilbert e Jane William, due primi secchi che li portano in testa con quattro punti di vantaggio su James Boyce e Sam Tozer (2-4 i parziali). Un solo punto dietro segue l'equipaggio Giles-Clark, a pari punti con Hivey-Hivey. Grande equilibrio tra gli RS 400: in testa a parità di punti Sims-George (2-1) e Downer-Price (1-2); con due terzi parziali seguono Bone-Martin. Identici risutati per ogni singola prova tra gli RS 600, il singolo che vede in testa con due primi Steve Birbeck, seguito da Andy Heissig (2-2) e Giles Chipperfiled (3-3). Anche l'altro singolo RS 700, più grande e performante, ha una parità di punteggio tra i primi due: Newton-Southon con un primo e un terzo è primo con Heissig (2-2); terzo posto per Jerry Wales, protagonista di una vittoria nella seconda regata odierna. In questa classe presenza italiana con Stefano Anessi e Dario Manenti, a metà classifica. Negli spettacolari RS 800 (doppio) sono al comando Deal-Page (1-2), seguiti a due punti da McGrane-Allen. Domani previste altre due prove.

ZHIK RS EUROCUP 2010-DAY ONE
The 2010 edition of the Zhik RS Eurocup, organised by Fraglia Vela Riva, gets off to a great start with 400 competitors divided into RS 200 (the largest category with 76 boats), RS 400, RS 600, RS 700 and RS 800 (with fifty boats participating). Two races were ran today, as scheduled, with southerly winds of 12 to 14 knots on Trentino Garda. This event, which will close on Friday 30th July, is almost totally British in its participation.
With around 1500 visitors a day between participants, staff and their families, this event has taken on a holiday atmosphere combining sport and tourism. In the largest class RS 200 (doubles), it was a good start today for Roger Gilbert and Jane William, with two clean firsts and puts them four points ahead of James Boyce and Sam Tozer (2-4 partials). Giles-Clark are just one point behind and equal in points with Hivey-Hivey. Good balance among the RS 400: equal on points and in the lead are Sims-George (2-1) and Downer-Price (1-2); Bone-Martin follow with two third partials. Identical results for the singles in the RS 600 class. Steve Birbreck is in the lead with two firsts followed by Andy Heissig (2-2) and Giles Chipperfield (3-3). In the RS 700 there is a tie on points between the first two: Newton-Southon is in first place with a first and a third with Heissig (2-2); in third place is Jerry Wales, winner of today’s second race. Italians Stefano Anessi and Dario Manenti are halfway down the table. In the spectacular RS 800 (doubles) Deal-Page (1-2) are in the lead followed by McGrane-Allen, two points behind. Another two races are scheduled for tomorrow.
