With two last races held early in the morning the 28th International Garda Optimist Meeting came to an end.This year we had yet another record with 943 participants.The Italian young sailor Patrick Zeni placed 2nd in the cadet fleet,whilst Carlotta Omari,presently one of Italy's top optimist sailors placed 3rd overall and 1st in the female division.

Welcome to Riva Del Garda and the 28th edition of Optimist Youth Regatta. This is a Guinness world record holding event, being the most numerous Youth Optimist Regatta in the world.     Off the shores of Trentino’s Lake Garda the Fraglia Della vela Riva, Riva’s own sailing club present the Annual Optimist Class Meeting to be held from the 1st to the 28th of April.

each of these 2 events wrapped today.  Three races sailed per event on Saturday; two per event on Sunday.  The Streamline Class event contested a total of 8 races in all. Same number of total event races for the Joker Class.

First day of regattas.  25 races run as Round Robin today.  Russia leads the temporary overall scores and rankings with 4 victories out of 4.  Italy, Poland, Netherlands and Norway follow closely with 3 points each.

The 420 Class kicked off their 2009 World Championship's Qualifying Series races today. Winds were stronger during the first races (blowing around 8 meters-per-second) and later began to taper off.
